Director
Parker Pimentel
Parker Pimentel serves as Director of The Second Step Incorporated, where he is committed to helping individuals find hope, healing, and purpose through recovery. Drawing from his own lived experience, Parker understands the challenges of addiction and the courage it takes to pursue lasting change. His personal journey has given him a deep sense of compassion and a genuine desire to walk alongside others as they navigate their own path to recovery.
Having experienced the struggles of addiction firsthand, Parker knows that recovery is not always a straight line. Through perseverance, accountability, faith, and a commitment to personal growth, he overcame significant obstacles and built a strong foundation for long-term sobriety. These experiences have shaped his belief that recovery is possible for anyone willing to take the next step, regardless of their past circumstances or setbacks.
As Director, Parker is passionate about fostering connection, encouragement, and community among those in recovery. He works to create opportunities for fellowship, mentorship, and personal development, helping individuals build meaningful relationships and maintain active engagement in their recovery journey. Through his leadership, authenticity, and unwavering commitment to serving others, Parker strives to inspire individuals to embrace recovery, discover their potential, and build fulfilling lives grounded in hope and purpose.
Secretary & Director
Janice Martinez
Janice Martinez serves as Secretary and Director of The Second Step Incorporated, bringing a unique combination of professional experience, compassion, and a heart for service. While she has never personally struggled with addiction, recovery is deeply personal to her because of the impact substance use and mental health challenges have had on individuals she loves. These experiences have given her a strong desire to support those seeking hope, healing, and a fresh start.
Janice previously served as a mentor with the substance use recovery program at Volunteers of America, where she worked alongside individuals rebuilding their lives and overcoming the challenges associated with addiction. Through that experience, she gained a deeper understanding of the recovery process and the importance of encouragement, accountability, and practical support.
In addition to her nonprofit work, Janice is the owner of Swagzilla Promotions LLC and has more than 15 years of experience in recruiting, workforce development, and helping individuals identify opportunities for personal and professional growth. At The Second Step Incorporated, she focuses on life skills development, resume building, interview preparation, job readiness, and connecting individuals with resources that help them move toward stability and self-sufficiency.
Janice believes that every person has value, purpose, and the ability to create a better future regardless of their past circumstances. She is passionate about helping individuals recognize their strengths, build confidence, and take meaningful steps toward lasting transformation. Through The Second Step Incorporated, she is committed to empowering others with the tools, guidance, and support needed to rebuild their lives and pursue their full potential.
